Mi Rancho, Humble, TX

Tonight we ate at Mi Rancho in Humble. This is down where Wilson Road and Beltway 8 intersect. A friend of mine, Margil, owner of Mac Jr. Steel and co-owner of LS Limo Services recommended it to us. We have been three times now.

This place is a Mexican Bar and Grill that is decorated in Tex-Mex Ranch motif (afterall, Mi Rancho means "My Ranch"). They have seating both indoor and outdoor with a full bar and a smoking section.

We have always ordered the same thing! El Refu Fajitas for two. This monster platter is a delicious mixture of chicken, beef, shrimp, onions, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. Yeah, I know! Broccoli and Cauliflower in in fajitas? It is superb!

Their salsa is not the best I've had nor is the charro beans but, they are worthy and the variety of tastes are always worth checking out. If everybody made the same thing...we'd never venture out.

Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed...4 thumbs up (Donna's parents were with us)!

Katz's Deli, The Woodlands, TX

Donna and I recently visited the Katz's Deli in the The Woodlands. This is actually a Katz's Express because the original is in Downtown Houston.

This was a pretty good experience. I had a delicious Rueben, piled high (too high for my mouth) with Corned Beef and Sauerkraut. Donna had a Pastrami sandwich that was okay. Her complaint is that the pastrami we used to get at Togo's in California was sliced more thinly and was very moist. We did like the fact that they have a self serve jug of pickles. We love good pickles and these were good.

The restaurant is decorated in a New York motif with subway signs, taxi cabs (little toy taxi's all over the place) and had several TV's to watch the game or whatever.

Their menu is huge! We will go back soon to try another selection from the menu. Recommended. 2 thumbs up.

Zamitti's Restaurant Kingwood

One of our favorite places in our home town, Kingwood, TX. Zamitti's is in the Kings Harbor center at the start of the Kingwood/Humble bridge on West Lake Houston Parkway.

Zamitti's has a great selection of Italian food (pasta, pizza, salad, soup and more) and a pretty good wine list. We like to frequent there a couple times per month and always have a great meal.

I usually go with either pasta prima vera or Fettucini al Fredo with chicken. Donna like the custom choice make-your-own pasta. Angel hair with meat sauce is her favorite. The house salad is a generous serving of field greens with other salad ingredients.

What stands out the most is it's friendly atmosphere and excellent employee training. We like polite staff that knows their job well. No pretentiousness here! They have also done a very nice job of making a strip mall eatery into an authentic feeling Italian Bistro. There is seating both indoor and outdoor.

We recommend Zamitti's and give it two thumbs up.
